Simple Create: A Minimalist Display Font for Handmade Brands

It was 10 p.m., and I had just printed my third round of candle labels—this time with Simple Create set at 24pt on matte kraft sticker paper. The moment I peeled one off the sheet, I paused. Not because something was wrong—but because it looked exactly like the quiet confidence I wanted my brand to whisper: clean, intentional, unhurried. That’s the first thing about Simple Create: it doesn’t shout. It settles in, tall and calm, with perfectly rounded terminals and a monolinear stroke that feels both handmade and meticulously designed.

As a maker who designs everything from seasonal greeting cards to printable planner pages and boutique packaging, I’ve tested dozens of display fonts—some too ornate for small stickers, others too thin to cut cleanly on my Cricut Maker. Simple Create lives in that sweet spot: a modern typography choice that’s built for real production. It’s a Script Amp font, yes—but don’t let the name mislead you. This isn’t a flowing script. It’s a clean, upright, monolinear display typeface—ideal for names, titles, product labels, and short decorative phrases where clarity and character matter equally.

I used Simple Create for a set of farmhouse-style wall art prints last month—just single words like “Breathe,” “Gather,” and “Still.” Because each letterform is tall and uniform, the rhythm feels grounded, even at small sizes. On 5x7” matte cardstock, it held its shape beautifully—not fuzzy, not fragile. And when I scaled it down to 8pt for a delicate gift tag tucked inside a soap box? Still legible. Still elegant. That consistency is rare in a display font—and invaluable when you’re juggling digital downloads, physical labels, and social media mockups all in one afternoon.

What makes Simple Create especially useful for makers is how predictably it performs across materials. On vinyl stickers? Crisp edges, no bleeding. On cotton tote bags (heat-pressed with simple vector outlines)? Smooth curves translate cleanly. On ceramic mugs or enamel pins? Its rounded terminals soften the geometry just enough to feel warm—not cold or sterile. Even in listing thumbnails on Etsy or Instagram previews, it reads instantly. No squinting. No second guesses.

Of course, context matters. Simple Create shines brightest as a display font—not body text. Think: the “Honey Lavender” on your candle jar, the “Thank You” on a folded thank-you card, the “Est. 2023” on your shop banner, or the title of a printable affirmation page. It’s not meant for paragraphs—but it’s perfect for moments that need presence. For longer text blocks in your digital templates or packaging copy, I pair it with a clean sans serif (like Montserrat Light) or a gentle serif (like Lora Regular). The contrast works beautifully: Simple Create brings focus and personality; the supporting font offers quiet readability.

When designing wedding welcome boards or seasonal holiday tags, I love how Simple Create balances modern minimalism with subtle warmth. Its rounded terminals avoid harshness—making it feel inviting rather than austere. And because it’s monolinear, there’s no visual “weight shift” between letters. That means your “Merry Christmas” tag cuts evenly on your Silhouette Cameo, and your “Mr. & Mrs.” foil-stamped invitation stays crisp at any size.

Before using Simple Create commercially—whether on physical goods, digital printables, SVG bundles, or merchandise—I always double-check the license. As a commercial font, it’s cleared for use in products you sell—but verify what’s included: OTF and TTF files, multilingual support (I needed extended Latin characters for a bilingual baby shower invite), and whether alternates or ligatures are available (they weren’t in this version—and honestly, I didn’t miss them. Simplicity is the point.). Also worth noting: no bold or italic weights—so if your design relies on typographic hierarchy, plan around that. Use scale, spacing, or color instead.

One unexpected win? Mockup previews. When I upload a new printable wall art listing, I use Simple Create for the headline in my Canva mockup. It renders cleanly on screen, and customers consistently comment how “calm” or “thoughtful” the design feels—even before they know it’s a font choice. That emotional resonance isn’t accidental. Minimalist modern design isn’t just about what’s left out—it’s about what remains, and how it makes people feel. With Simple Create, what remains is clarity, care, and quiet confidence.

If you're choosing a display font for your next batch of greeting cards, candle labels, wedding stationery, or digital planner pages, ask yourself: Does it hold up at 12pt on a sticker? Does it look intentional at 48pt on a canvas sign? Does it pair easily with your existing design assets? Does it reflect the tone you want your brand to carry—not just today, but six months from now? Simple Create answered yes to all of those for me. Not because it’s flashy, but because it’s faithful—to the craft, to the customer, and to the quiet power of well-chosen type.
